Plyometrics Training

What is plyometrics?  Plyometrics is the term now applied to exercises that were first known as "jump training".  It's a great way to enhance your explosive power in any athletic movement, and should be an important part of any strength and conditioning program.

Are you interested in increasing your running and jumping skills?  Or do you want to add more explosive power to your movements on the court?  Plyometrics will help!

Plyometrics works by enabling the muscle to reach maximum strength in as short a time as possible.  This speed-strength combination is also known as "power".  Plyometrics works with the lengthening (eccentric contraction) and shortening (concentric contraction) of the muscles.  As your muscles stretch, they build up energy, which is released during the concentric contraction (power). Plyometrics works by training the muscle to contract faster after it's been stretched (eccentric contraction).  To achieve the greatest power, you need to contract the muscle, after it has been stretched in the shortest amount of time.  This aspect is called the "stretch shortening cycle" and is the main focus of plyometrics training.

Plyometric program consists of 2 times per week for 6 weeks.
Pricing is as follows:
Adults 18 and older: $20 per half hour
under 18: $15 per half hour

Core & Plyometric sessions will be held Tuesday and Thursdays 2-7 pm.  Appointments are necessary since we give individual attention.  Each program will be sport specific and customized to each individual.  Please contact Dr. Tjode or Gene fax 636.937.3207 for more details.  Other appointments may be available.
